Siva (Prabhas) grows up to be an ambitious and mischievous young man, obsessed with climbing the mountain behind his village despite his mother's pleas. After showing superhuman strength, he finally reaches the top, where he encounters Avantika (Tamannaah Bhatia), a member of a resistance group fighting to overthrow the tyrannical King Bhallaladeva (Rana Daggubati) of Mahishmati and rescue the captive princess Devasena (Anushka Shetty). Smitten with Avantika, Siva decides to help her cause and infiltrates the royal palace to free Devasena. During the ensuing fight, Siva reveals a hidden identity that shocks everyone, including the loyal slave and general Kattappa (Sathyaraj), who falls into submission and proclaims him "Baahubali".
