The Wedge Collection explores Black identity, community, and power through the lens of the African diaspora. Nigerian-American writer Teju Cole noted that the collection "gently refuses" the images of Black people often limited to "despair, pain or brutal isolation," instead showing them "present as human beings, credible, fully engaged in their world."
