Crash Nitro Kart introduced several gameplay mechanics that were ahead of their time. The most notable was its anti-gravity sections, where karts would drive on walls and ceilings, a feature that wouldn't appear in Mario Kart until Mario Kart 8 nearly a decade later. Unlike the more arcade-style feel of its predecessor, Crash Nitro Kart adopted a heavier, more tactical driving system. To succeed, players had to master the timing of powerslides to earn boosts, chaining them together to maintain top speed.
Hold R1 or L1 while turning to slide. Watch the boost meter on the bottom right; when it fills, press the opposite shoulder button to boost. You can chain up to three boosts per slide for maximum speed.
If you’re a CTR fan, CNK is slightly more forgiving but still very fun.
