In December 2025, two assistant professors from National Sanskrit University in Tirupati were arrested following allegations by a 27-year-old BEd student from Odisha. According to the complaint, one professor exploited his position of authority to lure the student into his office and sexually assault her. The other professor was present during the incident and photographed and filmed the assault. The student further alleged that the professors used the video to threaten her. Both mobile phones of the accused were seized for forensic analysis. The university suspended both professors amid widespread outrage.
