The term "Mevlid-i Şerif" translates to "The Blessed Birth," referring to the celebration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. While the most famous Mevlid is undoubtedly Süleyman Çelebi's "Vesîletü'n-Necât" ("The Means of Salvation") in Turkish, the Kurdish literary tradition has produced its own masterpieces, with "Mela Huseynê Bateyî" (also known as Molla Bateyí) widely credited as the founder of the genre in Kurdish literature. Today, scholars have identified around 60 different Mevlid texts in the Kurdish language.
