The film was produced by the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) as a student project. The directors, Rajdeep Paul and Sarmistha Maiti, were both students at SRFTI at the time, graduating in March 2012. Paul came from an IT background, having worked at Infosys for three years before quitting to pursue filmmaking in 2007, while Maiti had a background in comparative literature and journalism.
