A significant portion of academic and grey-hat literature focuses on the fact that the webfull interface passes parameters directly to system shells without sanitization.

For those setting up a NetSurveillance system for the first time:

| Issue | Likely Cause | Solution | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | | Browser is blocking insecure content (mixed content) | Ensure HTTPS is used on both the page and the stream. | | High latency (5+ seconds) | System falling back to HLS instead of WebRTC | In camera settings, force "Low Latency" or "WebSocket" mode. | | Cannot control PTZ | Web interface lacks WebSocket support for control commands | Upgrade camera firmware to latest ONVIF Profile S/T compliant version. | | No audio in browser | Audio codec mismatch (G.711 vs. AAC) | Change audio encoding in camera's web config to AAC for native HTML5 support. | | Login page appears, but no video | Missing Media Source Extensions (MSE) | Update your browser; disable "strict" tracking protection on the site. |

Fully functional pan, tilt, zoom, and focus adjustments over compatible network cameras.

Use the default user credentials (typically admin with no password, though it is highly recommended to change this). Advanced Capabilities and Alternatives

refers to the native, browser-based monitoring portal used by millions of legacy H.264 OEM Digital Video Recorders (DVRs), Network Video Recorders (NVRs), and IP cameras built on HiSilicon chipsets . This integrated interface allows users to remotely control security systems, watch live video grids, and stream recordings directly through a web browser.

Hi, thank you for the comment.

Running under a normal user account should be possible. However, remember to protect the openrc.sh file as it contains sensitive data.
