Maulana Maududi was born on September 25, 1903, in Aurangabad (present-day Maharashtra, India). He received his early education and training at home under the supervision of his father, Ahmad Hasan, a lawyer and spiritual mentor. For the first eleven years, he studied religious as well as modern subjects entirely in a home environment. He was admitted directly to the eighth grade at Madrasa Furqania, Aurangabad, and passed the examination of Maulvi in 1914. Later, his family moved to Hyderabad, where he enrolled at Darul Uloom.
